What is Assistive Technology?
Assistive Technology can be used as a creative solution to help with a person’s health and safety and can support a person’s desire for more independence at home, in the community, or at work. This service enables people to use smart or electronic devices to increase their independence and reduce reliance on paid caregivers to help with a person’s needs.
It includes things that help with:
- Cooking safety
- Overnight support
- Medication adherence
- Fall detection
- Visitor monitoring
- Community navigation
We will schedule a consultation to make sure individuals are matched with the right technology to meet their needs, the appropriate equipment, and equipment training for the person as well as for their caregiver.
What is Technology Solutions?
Technology Solutions is the use of technology to improve a person’s abilities and to reduce dependence on other people. The technology is customized based on the person’s goals desired outcomes, preferences, and needs. This type of technology includes off the shelf technology, assistive technology, and remote supports.
Assistive Technology
- Equipment used by a person to improve
functional ability and overall independence. - Item, hardware, equipment, software, and/or
product system. - Can be authorized with or without remote
supports.
Remote Supports
- Services provided by a remote caregiver.
- Requires live two-way communication
between RS staff and person served. - Authorized with AT to fund the equipment or
hardware needed to provide RS.
Lending Library
The Lending Library includes adaptive devices that can be trialed with individuals to maximize safety and independence to participate in every day tasks. Our Service and Support Administrators can conduct an assessment and recommend items for loan by request. Items are available for trial or short-term lending.

Activities of Daily Living
Activities of daily living or ADLs include dressing, eating, bathing, toileting, personal hygiene, and functional mobility.
